Kiir frustrates Kenyatta

The tireless diplomatic shuttle to bring peace in South Sudan ,this week had a meeting brokered by President Uhuru Kenyatta organize a face to face dialogue between the two heads of the spilt SPLM/A in Nairobi.
The meeting convened under the auspices of Kenyan government had Dr. Riek Machar freshly jetting from South Africa after addressing a summit of African heads of states meet with President Salva Kiir who for unknown reasons did not attend the AU presidents’ summit in South Africa but sent his defense minister.
The meeting is in the pursuit of the recent reappointment of Pagan Amum as the secretary general of SPLM by Salva Kiir in Juba, President Kenyatta attempted to take advantage of the conducive momentum to persuade the warring parties to end the conflicts and reunite the country, however the information emerging is, there was no breakthrough from the face to face dialogue. As reported by the spokespersons ‘The meeting between Former Vice President and Leader of SPLM/SPLA Dr Riek Machar Teny and President Salva Kiir Mayardit hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta on June 27, 2015 had not achieved any breakthrough’.
President Kenyatta had at the convening of the meeting directly appealed to the two leaders to give peace a chance in order to end the suffering of the South Sudanese people and reports from the close door dialogue between the two leaders hinted to Dr. Machar willingness to sign the peace agreement has long as it guarantees Federalism.
Dr. Machar responded by saying "I am for peace and I want a peace that is sustainable and lasting". Machar said this peace must contain my cardinal issue which is "Federalism".

President Kiir however though remains stubborn and intransigent ,he fell short of acting with contempt towards the host by questioning President Kenyatta`s convened meeting, he said it lacked clearly coded agenda, since they have rejected the IGAD PLUS draft agreement.
Kiir to Kenyatta "why have you called me to come to Kenya"? Kiir added I sent my FM Marial to get the message why I am needed here by President Kenyatta but the message was not clear.
President Kenyatta was surprised and responded that "I thought we have three sticking issues which are "Federalism, Compensations and reparations and Power sharing ratios in Greater Bar El Ghazal States and Equatoria States"?

President Kiir was asked by Dr. Machar if he is for IGAD and Kiir said in presence of President Kenyatta that "We rejected the IGAD Draft Agreement Proposal and we rejected the IGAD Plus but if we are called for a meeting we will attend".

Frustrated and defeated President Kenyatta could not hold his feelings to hastily declare in the meeting he has failed in this latest attempt to bring peace to South Sudan.
