Political capital!
Besigye "I have support which is not easily transferable" Political capital is built over time and should not be demanded ,Dr. Kizza Besigye has over time built the trust, goodwill and influence with the public and other political figures. First and most its obvious he derives his source of political capital as the leader and an individual endeared to the people by his charisma or skills. I brought myself to the struggle. If you think I am not doing something useful, get up ..wake up and do something better Dr.Besigye
Ours is a peoples struggle to liberate themselves. We will never surrender peoples power to individuals.
We are engaged in a process of sensitizing Ugandans to regain their power. To do so, people must first realize that they are powerless to decide the destiny of Uganda and there they must invoke self belief and confidence to fight the dictatorship."
"The Independent Uganda is an embarrassment and a humiliation to Ugandans. Ugandans are powerless, lack basic social amenities, poor, less educated and lack skills to engage in production. They lack control over their taxes and expenditures and natural resources."
"In the last quarter of the century, the biggest form of humiliation is that people have been evicted from their land and are now landless"
"The current electoral process is a fraud process and can never lead to a free and fair election. Ugandans must however not resign to fate. They must challenge the process."
"How can Parliament of educated people pass electoral laws in the middle of an election? There is a deliberate attempt by the NRM junta and EC to exclude Ugandans from offering leadership by increasing nomination fees? When will a poorly paid teacher whose salary is arrears be able to raise 3m for nomination? How will unemployed youth raise 3m to get nominated? And shockingly most of those MPs joined Parliament as teachers."
Nobody should under estimate the sacrifices and humiliations he has gone through to imply he is power hungry, a leader with all resources to live a very comfortable life with family puts his life at stake to win freedom for many is not a child play. Over time his struggles has shaped up the positive multiplier effect with the public.
Therefore for those down playing his role and pains he has put his body on the block are gambling with their political careers ,those who want to bury themselves in their graves your welcome we shall meet in the field.
FDC made a choice to elect him and we are not going to succumb to any sabotage ,elections are won by the level of popularity you have built over time.
I am frowning at some personalities who assume they have more entitlement to lead at everyone’s expense. In 1999 Amama accused Besigye of jumping the que,in 2014 he was shoved off the que and thrown over the fence.
As the wise says"The test of good manners is to be patient with the bad ones".
The enemies of change are still hanging on the hopes of coercing the peoples president to cave in for their blackmail.
Dr Kizza Besigye has proved to be very resilient and dependable politician of the all time in Uganda despite him being wrongly imprisoned in numerous occasions and also being held captive at his own residence by the dictatorship, KB has remained resolute to humiliation, to dehumanization, to torture and he correctly assured the country that the struggle for elections reform is still on.” I am not one who throws a towel easily, so my first line of defense is electoral reforms” KB
The tragedy is the citizens of Uganda seem comfortable in a state of hopelessness with a population that is very despondent from the rich or poor, informed or ignorant, highly educated or less educated, young or old, urbanites or rural folks. During the struggle to end slavery, it's the slaves themselves who complained and resisted end of slavery. They Would say... where do these people want us to go? But we are comfortable with our masters? just leave us, we are okay. It's the same mentality of Ugandans
